Resolution: Back to my Blog with a NEW location

Okay, it's January of a brand new year, so why not join the masses and throw a resolution out there that I may or may not deliver on. As you can see by the date of my last blog entry, it's been quite awhile since I've blogged on here. Before you judge me for allowing so much time to lapse between blogs, you should know that it's not that I haven't been blogging---in fact I was blogging quite a bit--I was simply blogging elsewhere. I was writing daily blogs (sometimes 2 or 3 a day) on my company's website, so I let my personal blog site slide... Well, now I am vowing to return. So here I am. Back to my Reed My Lips blog. And, for creative flexibility, I'm relocating this blog to wordpress. Here's the link to the new location: www.JenniferReedMyLips.wordpress.com.

When you're contributing to your company's website content with blogs, you find yourself having to write about what appeals to their specific "customer" and what works with their "brand" instead of your own. Obviously, that isn't as freeing as being able to simply write what's on your mind, so my goal is to blog at least once a month. I'd like to blog even more than that, but I don't want to make too lofty of a resolution. I find that if I set a goal that is manageable, I've got a much better chance of accomplishing it. Plus, I don't want to feel "required" to do it. I simply want to enjoy writing for the sake of writing when I FEEL like writing.

So here's to a brand new year, a brand new blog, AND a brand new location. Cheers.

A German electronic musician has filed a one million dollar lawsuit against Guns n' Roses claiming that one of the songs on Chinese Democracy lifted "samples" from two of his songs. Guns n' Roses manager Irving Azoff responded by issuing a statement saying "The band vigorously contests these claims and intends to respond accordingly." Really? "Vigorously", eh? We're talking about an album that took over 14 years to make... Does Axl Rose do anything "vigorously"?

The game was brutal.... but the tailgating ROCKED. Had a great time hosting our 94WYSP Tailgate Party Patrol on Sunday. Eddie Van Halen has filed a lawsuit against Nike for "copying" the infamous Eddie Van Halen Frankenstein guitar design... Nike responded saying his lawsuit is "without merit" and that the shoe doesn't "substantially" look like Eddie's copyrighted design. I think maybe Eddie's got a point here... I look at that shoe and immediately think of Van Halen. What do you think?

Brett Michaels 0 / Stage Prop 1

Poison's Brett Michaels got beat up by a stage prop the other night when he performed at the Tony Awards... The huge prop was being lowered downward to the stage and descended straight down on Brett's head. Busted lip, busted nose, busted pride. Maybe he can get one of his little "Rock Of Love" chicks to nurse him back to health.

2010...the year of Oz. We all love our Ozzy, don't we? Looks like we're gonna be hearing alot from Ozzy this next year... First off, his new solo album comes out late 2009. He's also gonna be on Slash's new solo album as a "guest vocalist". Plus---his "boss" Sharon Osbourne swears there's gonna be a full-on Ozz Fest tour next year. And now, an Ozzy movie is due out in early 2010. Check out the movie trailer here...

Chris Cornell rocked it last night

Caught the Chris Cornell show last night at The Electric Factory---and as always--he was fantastic. I've always been in love with his vocals; however, I gotta confess I'm not a huge fan of his new Timbaland-produced stuff. Fortunately he did plenty of Soundgarden, Audioslave, etc. Some of my fave moments from the show included "Spoonman" with a drum solo and a Led Zeppelin "Good Times Bad Times" interlude. In fact, he covered 3 Zep tunes-- He killed it with "Immigrant Song" and a beautiful acoustic version of "Thank You". I also loved it when he jumped off stage into the audience during "Hunger Strike". "Rusty Cage" rocked. "Outshined" was badass. And "Fell On Black Days" performed with just him and an acoustic guitar... wow. The big encore tune was "Black Hole Sun" which wrapped up a killer show. Plus the chick standing near us in the audience that did a "stripper pole" routine the whole time til she fell over from either exhaustion or intoxication--- she was pretty entertaining too.

I read this week that an acoustic Jimi Hendrix quarter-inch tape is going on the auction block. It's a tape that Jimi recorded in '68 before going into the studio to record the infamous Electric Ladyland album... It's just Jimi on an acoustic guitar along with an un-named musician playing harmonica on a couple of the tracks. Here's the kicker---- Jimi originally gave the tape to a neighbor who lent him some milk and sugar. Wow... I love acoustic stuff and would love to hear it--- Can you imagine an acoustic version of Voodoo Chile? I'm guessing the tape will go for slightly more than a cup of milk and sugar.

'Tis the season............... for some MADNESS. Ah yes-- March Madness. Selection Sunday is like Christmas... Everybody anxiously awaiting the seedings... all giddy about talkin' basketball. Even if you don't pay attention to it all year long, suddenly we're all major hoops fans come March. Personally, I love it. I love filling out my bracket--- I do one for me AND of course my cat Maynard is also represented with a bracket. In fact, he did better than I did last year... figures.

Can anybody tell me where some good sushi is in this town? I've been on a quest to find the best sushi in my hood... Old City/Northern Liberties. Anybody please?

I admit it... I'm a sushi addict. Love the stuff. In fact, I think I could eat it every day. Okay, maybe not EVERY day-- but at least 4 times a week. Of course, I don't eat it 4 times a week, but I seriously could. I've tried some different spots... like Kisso is good, but no bar. You'd think I'd like the whole "BYOB" thing, but it's just never convenient. Haru is good-- in fact, it's probably my fave so far. Koi was really good, but again-- BYOB. Hikari... pretty good, but BYOB. Uzu was claustrophobic. Pod was really good, but not conveniently located to me. There was another place on Market (I forget the name) that was pretty good, but the service sucked. So, gotta suggestion? Feel free to email me cuz I'm always up for the next good sushi spot.

Oh, and for those of you

who don't like sushi-- I posted a couple of "Nyataimori" photos. Nyataimori is the Japanese practice of "naked sushi"... eating sushi off a woman's naked body. I must confess-- I've never taken part in Nyataimori. The thought of sushi warming up to someone's body temperature kinda weirds me out,

but the concept is pretty provocative, don't ya think? Although, why is it always served on nude women instead of men? I might try it if it was served up on hunky naked guy. Oops... Is that a California roll, or are ya just happy to see me? Lol... Enjoy the pics... er... sushi.

Unquestionably THE greatest rock band of all time is

Led Zeppelin. Yeah, yeah, yeah... you could argue there have been some other incredibly talented bands---

but with the level of talent of each of Zep's members all

in ONE band? Nobody stacks up. In fact, that combination may never happen again. I always admired that they disbanded after the death of drummer John Bonham... because to them it was no longer

Led Zeppelin. Page & Plant even recording and touring and still leaving the name intact. Now, years later, after John Bonham's son Jason has become an accomplished drummer himself and started jamming, writing, and creating with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, you'd think the stage was set for reuniting the almighty Led Zeppelin for something more than a "one-off" show? Right? Wrong. Robert Plant doesn't wanna do it. Wants to continue with his solo projects, etc, etc, etc... Okay, so that's that. Then we

get news that Page, Jones, and Bonham are "trying out" various singers. Rumors of Miles Kennedy, Chris Cornell, even Steven Tyler started as possible "replacements" for lant for a Led Zeppelin reunion tour. WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? REPLACE ROBERT PLANT??---ONE OF THE GREATEST ROCK VOCALISTS OF ALL FREAKIN' TIME? Noooooooo way! Thankfully, reps for Page and Jones have come out and said that this grouping of musicians with a new lead singer would not call themselves Led Zeppelin. No question we'd all love to

see Page, Jones, and John Bonham's son along with

some fabulous lead singer write, record, tour, etc....

It'd be cool and I'd love it. But NOT under the guise of

Yeah, I've always had a weird fascination with lips... and stars, too, for that matter. Growing up, I used to doodle lips and stars all over my notebooks... Turns out what you doodle supposedly indicates your personality. Doodling lips means frustrated desire, doodling stars means highly ambitious. Makes perfect sense to me--- I'm frustrated because I'm too damned ambitious? I don't know... what the hell.

Anyway, here's a few other doodle meanings...

hearts - romantic
suns - childish disposition
bars/vertical lines - feel trapped/powerless
mazes/grids/crosses - highly competitive
dots - sense of unease
eyes - wishing to be desired
stick figures - artistic talent stalled

so this is blogging, eh?
